Palladium/Palladium Pro Virus Infection & Removal Instructions

Palladium Pro Virus Infection - StartupAnother rogue security program is infecting computers, around the world, and this one is NASTY. You’ll immediately know that your computer has been infected by the Palladium virus, as it will not let you start or give access to your Windows desktop.

The Palladium virus locks your computer and you can’t do anything until you purchase their software. Obviously, you shouldn’t purchase the software, as it’s only a scam to get your money, your credit card information and your contact details.

Apparently, the only Palladium removal tool that actually works is MalwareBytes AntiMalware (trusted and recommended).

  1. Start your computer in Safe Mode, by tapping the F8 key when you see the POST screen (blank page with manufacturer’s logo).
  2. When you get to the advance boot options screen, choose Safe Mode with Networking.
  3. Download TFC.exe (Temporary File Cleaner, hosted on this site) or have it ready to go, on a USB drive (recommended).
  4. You can either download MalwareBytes AntiMalware then or have it ready to go, on a USB drive (recommended).
  5. Run TFC.exe to remove all temporary files. Infections often hide their related installers in temporary file folders.
  6. While still in Safe Mode, search for the following files and remove them:
    • \Application Data\completescan_pal
    • \Application Data\install_pal
    • \Application Data\palladium.exe
    • \Application Data\uid_pal
    • \Desktop\Palladium.lnk
    • \Start Menu\Programs\Palladium.lnk
  7. Also search for a file called ‘pal.exe’ as this is often overlooked.
  8. Install, update and run a complete scan with MalwareBytes AntiMalware.
  9. At this point, you’ll likely be instructed to reboot your computer, in order to complete the removal process. Do so.
  10. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Your computer should now boot normally.

To avoid future infection, be careful not to install any software that isn’t reputable and avoid visiting questionable websites.
