Tech Support Care Package by Google (TeachParentsTech.org)
If you’ve already seen the ads form Google, regarding their free instructional video series at TeachParentsTech.org, perhaps you’ve had a chance to view some of the videos from your personalized “Tech Care Package”. You may have also noticed that the video instructor uses a Mac and not a PC. Considering that most seniors or tech-challenged individuals use PCs, I wonder why Google chose to use Macs for their instructional videos.
50 Passwords You Don’t Want To Use
The Wall Street Journal published an article, on Monday, titled “The Top 50 Gawker Media Passwords“. If these are Gawker’s most common passwords, then it should go without saying that they would also be 50 passwords you wouldn’t want to use…right?
PHP DEV: Return an Array from a Function
As I start to hone my PHP development skills, I’ll be posting short solutions for problems that I run into. All related posts will have the “PHP DEV:” designator, in the title. These articles may help other novice PHP programmers, who find themselves running into the same problems that I’ve encountered, and they’re also a good way to bring extra traffic to the site. I hope they help you!
One of the problems with creating a custom PHP function is that you can only return one variable/value. The problem is that, with each custom PHP function you write, you may need to return more than one value.
Suppose you wanted to retrieve a list of friends from a database or, in this case, a list of variables. Instead of returning just one value, you can return an array of values (as one variable) and assign a variable for each value in the array.
Top Five Ways To Infect Your Computer
If you were hoping that this post was intended to teach people how to infect their computers, you may be disappointed. That’s completely illogical and I just don’t “do” illogical, very well. However, logic does tell us that the best way to prevent your computer from becoming infected is to know how or why it happens. Agreed? Agreed.
You Can Throw MaxMySpeed.com Onto The Trash Heap, Too!
OK…just saw my first MaxMySpeed.com TV commercial, from…you guessed it! CyberDefender! These guys just don’t quit! Apparently, CyberDefender’s newest manifestation of scamware is MaxMySpeed.com. The TV commercial promises the same positive results as its predecessors. “Removes errors, Speeds up your computer, Removes spyware and viruses…”. They even show multiple people’s “testimonials” about how wonderful this junk is. Same old, same old.
Microsoft Security Essentials Infection
There seems to be a new dog playing some old tricks, out there, which has boldly labeled itself as “Microsoft Security Essentials”. I guess they have no problem attaching reputable names to their products. Just like other ransomware (Windows Defence, Win Antivirus 2010…), it tries to scare you into buying some software that will fix your errors, clean your entire computer system and make life, in general, much better. Don’t click it. Don’t try to close it. Shut down your computer and pick up the phone.
How To Disable “Google Instant”
If you’re not happy with Google’s new “Instant” search, which provides search results with every letter you type into the search box, here’s how to disable it and revert to the old way of searching.
Are automatic registry cleaners safe to use?
Recently, I’ve been very hard-pressed to find a client’s computer without one of the available automatic registry cleaners (registry boosters) installed. I have my own opinion about these products, so I’d like to try to clear up any confusion, relating to these digital wonder drugs.
